TEACHER

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Valid Missouri Special Education Elementary or Secondary Teacher Certification or ability to obtain. 

 

SUPERVISES:

  1. Students assigned directly to their caseload 
  2. Paraprofessionals (if applicable) 
  3. Other Osage County R-II students

 

REPORTS TO:

  1. Director of Special Education
  2. Building Principal

 

 Job Performance Duties: 

  1. Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on students' needs.
  2. Adapt and modify curriculum to meet diverse learning needs.
  3. Use research-based instructional strategies and interventions.
  4. Provide direct instruction in individual, small-group, and whole-class settings.
  5. Utilize assistive technology and accommodations as necessary.
  6. Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instruction accordingly.
  7. Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure inclusion and access to the curriculum.
  1. Implement behavior management plans and positive behavior supports.
  2. Teach social skills and self-regulation strategies.
  3. Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
  4. Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns.
  5. Work with counselors, therapists, and other specialists to address student needs.
  1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date IEP documentation.
  2. Conduct required evaluations, assessments, and progress reports.
  3. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district special education laws and policies.
  4. Attend and participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  5. Keep detailed records of student progress, accommodations, and modifications.
  1. Work collaboratively with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and administrators.
  2. Engage in ongoing professional development related to special education best practices.
  3. Advocate for students with disabilities to ensure equitable access to education.
  4. Participate in school-wide initiatives and committees.
  5. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including parents, staff, and community members.

 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. 147 School Days
  2. 10 Contracted PD days
  3. 7 Paid Holidays (Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, day after Thanksgiving, December 24, December 25, December 31, and January 1)

             

Total:  164 contracted days
